Uganda Friends of Mothers Organic
Whole Bean Coffee
Price range: $21.00 through $33.00
This lot comes from the Friends of Mothers Initiative in the Mbale District of Uganda, a women-led collective working on the slopes of Mt. Elgon. Founded in 2015, the initiative brings together hundreds of women producers who cultivate and process coffee at high elevations, creating both economic opportunity and long-term stability within their communities.
Grown between 1400 and 2500 meters above sea level and composed of SL-14 and Nyasaland varieties, this coffee is fully washed and carefully dried on raised beds to preserve clarity and structure. It is certified Organic and Fair Trade, reflecting both environmental stewardship and equitable trade practices.
In the cup, it offers a rich chocolate mouthfeel layered with subtle melon sweetness and a distinctive hoppy freshness in the finish that adds lift and character without overpowering the cup. Uganda has steadily emerged as a source of refined, high-elevation Arabica, and this lot is a strong example of that evolution. It performs well across all roast levels, maintaining structure and balance from light to dark, and shows beautifully across a wide range of brew methods from pour over to espresso.
